The health status of an individual machine is represented by the color of its icon.
These colors are used across all Azima products (WATCHMAN Reliability Portal, ALERT software, TRIO data collectors, and WATCHMAN Online System) to provide a consistent view of machinery status.
Many factors determine the overall health of a machine and, thus, the color of its icon. This is because a single machine likely has vibration data being collected from multiple locations and may also have process data being collected and/or additional technologies being applied (IR, oil, etc.).
The overall machine status is driven by a combination of:
The most severe fault detected by the expert system and confirmed by your analyst.
The vibration alarm levels set for each measurement location on the machine.
The process point alarm levels set for each process point on the machine.
The status of a machine can be changed; it is not set in stone. Your analyst can use the ExpertALERT software to change a machine's status manually, either via the Report Editor or by choosing Expert>Set Machine status.
Throughout the WATCHMAN Reliability Portal, machine status is almost always based on the last time an analyst reviewed the data. This is referred to as the Analyst Reviewed Results.
An analyst reviews data that has been run through the expert system and either confirms the diagnosis or changes it. Analyst Reviewed Results show the severity confirmed (or assigned) by the analyst, regardless of whether new data has come in since that review and been run through the expert system.
Example:
An analyst confirms an Extreme fault on a machine during his review on January 3rd. During the next few weeks, the plant staff responds and fixes the problem. New data is collected and synchronized/replicated to the WATCHMAN Data Center on January 26th for review. When the new data arrives, the expert system runs on it (automatically), and detects that the machine is running fine. However, the machine's status will remain Extreme in the Portal until the analyst reviews and confirms those findings. Only then will the status update from Extreme to OK on the WATCHMAN Reliability Portal.
If your program includes machines that are monitored online via the WATCHMAN Online System, the machine status shown on the Portal may be the results of the expert system and not an analyst's review of it.
On the Dashboard, the Machine Status - Online element uses the current machine status to build the pie chart. This means that the most recent results for a machine (Expert System Results or Analyst Reviewed Results) are used. The reason for this is that online machines often have data collected far more frequently (usually multiple times a day) than analyst reviewed (often weekly, monthly and/or when a change in status is detected).
